Flower Power - Floral Fashion Is Back

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

No real surprise that Floral Fashion was big on the catwalks in the Spring / Summer collections.

Flowery clothing has long held a place in the hearts of the British public.

Back in the 1920s floral prints become fashionable after formerly being used on linings and work wear.

In the 1950s florals became the height of haute couture as the Paris fashion houses used them with wild abandon on full skirted dresses with clinched waists.

Sixties designers such as Ossie Clarke were very innovative in the use of floral patterns.

Modern florals are very fresh and bold, much less mumsy than the flowery patterns of the past.
