Ambiguous Clothing specialize in great gear for the surf and snow crowd.
The story of Ambiguous Clothing started in the middle of the 1990s, founder Frank Delgadillo had a single word taped above his dormitory bed, that word was “Vague”.
Frank’s ethic in life is to follow the dream of making a living doing the things that make you happy, which in his case meant making clothing that his friends would want to wear. Frank’s friends who include artists, musicians, skateboarders, snowboarders and surfers among their number, went on to became his company, and with their help Ambiguous Clothing developed, providing designs that stood out from trends of the time.
The raw, fresh clothing produced by Ambiguous gained an underground following amongst the southern California boarding community, eventually attracting the Japanese and getting noticed by the business world.
Ambiguity hasn’t meant obscurity (their words not mine ~ SG). The Autumn 2005 saw Ambiguous Clothing relocated giving the company much needed space to allow for further growth and freedom to prepare for a brand new era.
Rather than focus on a single image, Ambiguous became a poster for the undefined lifestyle that was at the soul of the board sports culture.
That’s quite an interesting concept for a brand – ambigous, vague… I suppose that means that they have more creative freedom with their designs as they are less restricted.
