In the week that Marks and Spencer announced that profits for the first half of 2007 have risen by 11.5%, even though others in the sector have struggled, the high street retail giant has launched its Christmas campaign this week featuring Zorro star Antonio Banderas.
The advertising campaign also features M&S’s famous models Twiggy, Laura Bailey, Elizabeth Jagger, Noemie Lenoir and Erin O’Connor in a 1940s Hollywood setting, each of the models are styled to look like silver screen heroines of the time, and they are competing for the attention of the mystery hero (Banderas).
Marks & Spencer saw pre-tax profit grow to £452 million from £405 million compared to the same period last year.
Sales in the UK grew 5.9% however the in overseas markets a healthy 13.8% per cent increase was posted.
