The Berghaus brand was born in 1966 when Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison two passionate climbers opened their own outdoor clothing store the LD Mountain Centre (LD being Lockey & Davison).
They quickly gained a reputation for designing, testing and manufacturing innovative, performance driven and high quality outdoor gear, this own brand kit went by the name of Berghaus.
It was performance wear before performance wear was even around, and it’s still performing over 40 years later.
From day one Berghaus had distributed Scarpa footwear in the UK, this arrangement ended in 1994. Later that year the first Berghaus footwear collection was launched.
Part of this first collection was the Storm boot, it was a huge success and quickly became regarded as the definitive three season fabric hiking boot, fourteen years on the Storm is still part of the bestselling Berghaus footwear range.
