The singer is seen in a blonde wig and is almost unrecognisable on the promo for her latest album “4”. Experts claim that the pale appearance is most likely down to the lighting however the 30 year old who recently became a mum for the first time, is sure to have known that the picture would cause some controvery after previous bust-ups.

Before the Grammy’s last year, Beyonce was criticised for being too pale and making some black girls ashamed of how they looked. In 2008 L’Oreal were accused rather publicly of digitally “Whitewashing” Beyonce in an advert. Before this it had been alleged that her father had persuaded her to use various skin treatments to remain the lightest coloured member of Destiny’s Child.
More recently she seems rather pale in certain scenes from her latest video “Countdown” (Watch it below)
Beyonce was born and raised in Texas by her African father and mixed-rather mother and gave birth to her first child, Blue Ivy over a week ago in New York.

Beyonce in 2006
As a model myself; it’s fair to say I have come across lighting “burn” which makes me look white than white (bordering on alabaster in some cases). The problem becomes worse when you wear a light wig (or weave) that close to blonde which can give black women a more Caucasian complexion – if Beyonce did the same photo with dark hair I doubt there would be much of a problem however I do agree it can be quite dangerous. Beyonce is in a place of influence and there is a whole generation who may want to lighten themselves physically or digitally to look like Beyonce in these pictures. People are saying Beyonce is “naturally fair” but looking at her pictures over the years she has become much lighter – taking 2006 a an example her skin was much darker than she is now.
