Brasher Boots
Back in 1956 when Chris Brasher won an Olympic Gold Medal in the 3000 metre steeple chase it was a world away from becoming an innovator in the walking boot market.
The inspiration for the Brasher Boot came in 1978 when Chris and a friend were walking the popular “Roof of Wales” route high in the Welsh mountains, with his feet covered in blisters Chris posed the question:
“Why can’t walking boots be as comfortable as training shoes?”
He decided to discard his unforgiving boots and completed the 180 mile trek in his New Balance trainers, arriving at his destination without any problem.
The Welsh experience motivated Chris to design the perfect walking boot with emphasis on comfort and lightness.
The first Brasher Boots were manufactured and distributed by Fleet foot who also distributed New Balance shoes and subsequently Reebok.
The Brasher boot quickly gained popularity among the walking fraternity and became the definitive boot for walking in the British Isles, particularly for its intrinsic comfort, lightweight construction and , support.
