Barely a couple of years ago, the founder of Cheap Monday, Örjan Andersson was on his knees on the floor of the small warehouse space behind his store encircled by screen printing frames, stained with fabric paint, hand printing his own shirts and jeans – which, incidentally, he still does.

The clothes and jeans from his own brand, Cheap Monday, are still homemade. The difference now is that they sell large amounts, were nominated in the category for ”best jeans design” in Elle magazine, challenge the most fashionable brands in the jeans business, and are now are being set up in stores around Europe.

After being a working-class man in the store of a clothing company a decade Örjan began his own small shop. “Weekend” was more of a hobby project and, as the name suggests, it was exclusively opened during the weekends. The range focused primarily on jeans and t shirts and had a clear-cut rocky, American style to it. A couple years later, in 2002, it was time for the second store, “Weekday”, to open the doors.
