Cardboard Robot Clothing @ www.myrockcity.com

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Cardboard Robot (commonly abbreviated to CBR) was created by a group of individuals, who describe themselves as:

‘a gang of the craziest misfits dorks and geeks you might come across’.

The Cardboard Robot clothing range contains Men’s Shirts, Women’s Shirts, Men’s Outerwear, Women’s Outerwear and Accessories which include hats, hair clips and even skateboard decks.

Cardboard Robot strive to be innovative with their designs and are constantly thinking up ways in which they can incorporate things which raise awareness and may (hopefully) slowly help to save the world in their own special way; from a hoodie with a can opener as a zipper, to designs with a deeper underlying meaning than most around today (these are either subtle or obvious depending on both the design and the person viewing said design.)

Rick Owens AW09 Collection

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

A big influence on Rick Owens Autumn / Winter 09 season’s collection was New York performance artist Klaus Nomi, famous for operatic sci-fi cabaret. Models looked suitably apocalyptic with shaved heads and pale faces, personifying the anti-glamour Owens is known for. Proportions are more accessible than in previous collections and raw materials are unadulterated. Texture and simplicity rule here.

Up close, the nylon has had a ‘vintage dye’ treatment so pigment is slightly stone washed, looks amazing against the sheen of the fabric. There are four deep outer pockets that seal with Velcro and two zip fastening inner pockets. Coat has a long vented slit up the back and is fully lined.

The company was given a new burst of life in 2003 by fresh-thinking young visionaries. While still primarily a sporting brand, Original Penguin gives it’s wearers freedom of expression and allows them to truly be themselves while still wearing comfortable and functional sportswear.
