And then it hit me. As we entered the park, people were most definitely not thinking about my attire. Children’s faces were aglow with excitement at the heart stopping rides and the myriad glistening colours, parents were flustered with keeping their flock in line and exasperated at the price of normal coke extortionately sexed up by gaudy plastic beakers. Nobody batted an eyelid at my outfit. Or anybody else’s for that matter, even despite the bountiful comedy hats and the abundance of fluorescent cagoules. I was free: liberated from dressing how I was supposed to; free from critical eyes that evaluate the essence of me based on my adherence to the latest catwalk commandments.
Sunday evening saw the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) pay tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards in the Celeste Bartos Forum of The New York Public Library followed by dinner at the Bryant Park Grill.

Yves Saint Laurent, one of the greatest fashion designers of all time has died at the age of 71.
Born in Algeria in 1936, the young Saint Laurent had a fascination with clothes and in 1953 at the tender age of 17 he arrived in Paris with a bulging portfolio of innovative designs.
At just 21 he became chief designer at the House of Dior before branching out on his own in 1960.
This is specifically for our US readership but as its such a worthy cause we felt a mention on Fashion Style You was appropriate.

From today Sainsbury’s will be introducing a wider range of sizes in their Tu clothing range.
The Petites label aimed at women under 5′ 3″ (1.6m) will be available in twenty five stores, while the Grace label which includes sizes up to 28 is to be sold in fifty outlets.
The Tu Fashion brand was introduced by Sainsbury’s four years ago.
Sainsbury’s currently command a 1.7% share by volume of the UK clothing market.
