The Prime Ministers wife Sarah Brown was an interesting choice of speaker for the launch of London Fashion Week on Sunday.
The British Fashion Council undoubtedly chose Mrs Brown in order to promote the serious side of the fashion business rather than the eccentricity that often prevails.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has hit out at the lack of black faces on magazine covers and major fashion events, she says the fashion industry is more racist than ever.
Campbell told reporters:
“Women of colour are not a trend. That’s the bottom line. It’s a pity that people don’t always appreciate black beauty. In some instances, black models are being sidelined by major modelling agencies. Fashion needs to go back to the way it used to be when wonderful designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace and Azzedine Alaia just had a great line-up of beautiful women – white, black, Chinese, Hispanic.”
Marc Jacobs International the company headed by fashion designer Marc Jacobs is under investigation for allegedly bribing an official to host shows at the historic 69th Regiment Armory in downtown Manhattan.
The Company is accused of paying out over $30,000 (about £15,000) to the Armory’s former superintendent for preferential access to the famous New York building.
The ex-superintendent has been charged with bribery and extortion, prompting the investigation.

Italian fashion designer Alberta Ferretti has entered into an agreement with iconic beauty experts Elizabeth Arden who will produce Alberta Ferretti fragrance, cosmetics and skin care products under license.
Elizabeth Arden will develop and market the collections with Ferretti offering creative input, this agreement continues the current trend for designer cosmetics and fragrances.
The first collection is due to be launched next year.
