Crocs the famous plastic clog type sandal was catapulted onto the high street in 2002 when the enterprising George B Boedecker Jr recognised the potential of the shoe originally designed by a Canadian company. Using his entrepreneurial skills in addition to his love of fashion Boedecker helped Croc to set in motion a global attack on the high street. Croc’s are now recognised worldwide especially its main two styles “The Beach” and “Cayman” and are produced in over 20 bold colours.
Crocs achieved a certain notoriety due to its use of foam. The company acquired exclusive rights to the use of corslite and all their clogs are now made exclusively from this expandable foam. In spite of their apparent medical attributes Crocs have received a mixed response, however they have continued to have a monopoly on the high street and popularity has grown year on year.
Despite the phenomenal success the original founders of Crocs were determined that the company remained true to its foundations and maintained overall control of the company. Today Crocs are a symbol of a small company that has become an international success that continues to grow globally selling a lightweight and functional shoe.
