Damaris was launched in 2001 by fashion print design graduate Damaris Evans, Damaris choose to reject the usual nylon lace and cotton Lycra materials for her lingerie and create more upmarket, high fashion garments in natural luxurious fabrics, they quickly filled a gaping niche in the market.
The Damaris collection is epitomised by a signature Bow Knicker with a cheeky bottom cleavage.
Starting on her kitchen table with a £5,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust, Damaris took her creations to Selfridges and Le Bonne Marche, Paris, where, despite a high end retail price ranging from £125-£3,000 per piece, both stores decided to stock them.
The rise to the top was swift the Bow Knicker soon sold out at Selfridges and customers were put on a waiting list, celebrity clients followed and soon Damaris was featured in Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Browns Focus.
The Spring/Summer 2003 collection collected Damaris Evans an Elle Style Award for ‘Young Enterprise of the Year’.
Unfortunately for Damaris competition in the luxury lingerie market has grown some competitors even tried to rip off their designs but they were quickly despatched with, many settling with Damaris out of court.
In 2003 Damaris launched the long-awaited lingerie line Mimi Holliday which features high class designs at a more affordable price.
