Loading ...Death Rock - Behind the Fashion
Death Rock fashion is a distinctive style, which sits between Gothic fashion and Punk fashion.
The playfully spooky look was first seen by Siouxsie & the Banshees, and made famous by Siouxsie Sioux, and Robert Smith from The Cure.
The Death Rock look however does have it’s roots in horror movies, and is very tongue-in-cheek, with some added gore.
Death Rock fashion is characterised by layering black and white clothing, and extensively accessorising. Black striped clothing is commonly worn, and much of the clothing including t-shirts and fishnets are often ripped or torn.
Clothing items include tight black jeans, short black mini skirts, black or white laced shirts, coloured corsets, fishnet tops and stockings, band t-shirts, black leather jackets, and of course Dr Martens boots.
Makeup for both males and females emphasises unnaturally pale and death like complexions, black or dark red lipstick, and dark eye shadow applied to create a sunken or sickly look, and heavy black eyeliner.
