Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana first met in Milan in 1980. Dolce studied fashion design and worked for his families clothing factory, and Gabbana was a trained graphic designer.
Their first collection was launched to international acclaim in 1986. The collection was limited to jacket’s, dresses, and suits. The brand soon expanded to knitwear, beachwear, lingerie and accessories.
They now have two main clothing lines (Dolce & Gabbana and D&G). D&G is generally a more casual line with slightly cheaper prices and follows the curent culture trends. Dolce & Gabbana concentrate on luxury materials which are consideribly more expensive. Within each line is beachwear, underwear, sunglasses and fragrances. The D&G line also has jewelery and watches.
Finally they also have a seperate line for children under the age of 13 called D&G Junior. Each season follows a set-named trend for a season and is named separately for boys and girls.
