Everything 5 Pounds – Review

August 6th, 2012

I recently told you about everything5pounds and all their amazing deals. I can now bring you a first hand experience of shopping with the website.

Choosing what you want to buy is the hard part; especially as there is so many amazing pieces. However I had a budget of £10 including postage and packing for a maxi dress (my usual summer attire is jeans and a t-shirt but this year it’s just been too hot).

Browsing around everything5pounds I narrowed my choices to two dresses and then chose the longer of the two.

You do have to create an account with the website to purchase anything. I find this a little annoying as it now means I forever have an account with them and will regularly receive updates from them on their “newest stock”, which in fact, is not new at all but they’re just trying to sell the summer stuff.   HOWEVER….the website does have new stock online – check out their “New Arrivals” section for the newest additions to the website.  I don’t remember any check boxes to stop 2nd and 3rd party emails so I fully expect some “related” emails within the next couple of weeks.

Once my account was created I was very happy to find that they have a PayPal option; as much as this pleases me I am rather annoyed at PayPal for recently charging me for payments (I hate small print). Next time I am paying via card on the site to hopefully stop any extra charges (which, PayPal have informed me, is anything from 20p to £10 depending on the amount of money passing through PayPal and if it is overseas payments, they can charge more).

Delivery was 3-5 days and actually arrived on Saturday, which was great timing (3 days). The dress I ordered in a size 12-14 (which according to the website is a Large) and the only other sizes available were a 10-12 or a 14-16. Please note that very few items go up to a size 14-16. Most of the items of clothing only go up to a 12-14 or in some cases only a 10-12 and a standard size 12 which I find is too small personally.

Something I couldn’t tell on the site is that the dress is actually rather see-through. It is fully lined however if I am stood with my legs slightly apart and a light source behind me…. my silhouette can be seen easily. It fit’s very well and has slightly padded cups (which I don’t need and will probably end up removing at some point). I am 5ft 10inches and the dress sits down to my ankle bone so it is rather long. It is a polyester mix, which is rather annoying – I didn’t spot that. Even the lining is a polyester mix which means it is VERY warm in the summer and can get rather static-ey around the legs.

Over all I would give the website a 7 out of 10 – it loses marks because it doesn’t provide larger sizes, shipping costs upwards of £3 and there needs to be more variety in their footwear. Let’s hope the autumn/winter season brings some new designs and items onto the website. It will be a real let down if it just re-hashes the styles it already has.
