Jean Paul Gaultier has paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse and her unique style in his Spring/Summer2012 Couture collection.
The French designer unveiled some 50′s and 60′s styles complete with Winehouse beehives; all set to the acapella version of her hit “Rehab”.
There is really no secret of the fact that Amy loved the rockabilly fashion style and Gaultier really played with that idea with his open shirts, pencil skirts, polka dots and capri pants. He was very careful not to take his inspiration too literal and sent out his signature corset dresses, bustier tops and layered them with brassiers, followed by theatrical ball gowns that flowed and twisted in unusual shapes.
Gauliter talked backstage to press and said “Amy Winehouse was a true style icon, what she stands for above all is uniqueness. Both in music and the way she dressed, she mixed a great many influences.”
Some of the models who strutted wear the beehive hair include Karlie Kloss and Andrej Pejic. Some of the famous faces who were sat on the front row included Beth Ditto, Dita Von Teese, Catherine Deneuve and Charlotte Rampling.
