Havaianas (pronounced ah-vai-YAH-nas which is Portuguese for Hawaiians) were first created in 1962 after taking inspiration from the Zori, a Japanese style sandal.
They immediately became a cult success, and 2.2 billion pairs of Havaianas sandals have been produced and sold throughout the world.
They were introduced to the United States three years ago, who refer to them as the “best rubber sandal in the world”. Havaianas can be seen gracing the pages of the hottest fashion magazines, on the runways at New York Fashion Week and featured at red carpet events by many celebrities.
