John Robinson established Jigsaw in 1972 and they have just released their stunning AW09 collection, celebrating sumptuous fabrics, rich colours and striking silhouettes with the brand’s signature focus on British eccentric dressing and attention to detail.
The mood of Jigsaw’s AW09 collection is sophisticated and classic with a focus on the reworking and embellishment of classic shapes and styles to create contemporary must-haves. Gold satin is lifted with a flash of bright amethyst, luxurious deep grey velvet is given a light touch with 1940s-style bows and the perfect black cocktail dress is lent an art deco feel with intricate silver bead embellishment. Fabrics are luxurious; satin, velvet and brocade shine in vibrant jewel colours. Emerald, amethyst, fuchsia and chartreuse are tempered with deep greys and neutral tones.
Classic styles are given a new lease of life for the new season and form the basis of key pieces for AW09. Jigsaw’s new silhouette reworks timeless shapes to bring them right up to date – playful extravagance is channelled through bell sleeves, beautiful eveningwear, clever detailing and worked and re-worked embellishment. Frills, bustles, asymmetric cuts and sharp silhouettes turn tweed skirts, neat cardigans and wool jackets from ordinary daytime outfits into Jigsaw’s AW09 statement pieces.
