John Lennon Glasses to sell for over £1million
All you need is … cash, and lots of it, a pair of John Lennon’s trademark ‘granny’ glasses is expected to sell for over £1million after a fierce bidding war on online auction site 991.com.
Lennon wore the gold rimmed glasses when the Beatles toured Japan in 1966, after the tour he gave them to his Japanese interpreter.
Anonymous rival bidders have driven the price to more than £750,000 since the auction started at midnight on Thursday, bidding closes at the end of the month.
The Sales and Marketing Director of 991.com, John Warner told reporters: “The response has been phenomenal. Our phones have been on meltdown since the announcement of the auction, with a ferocious bidding war breaking out across the globe. It’s almost impossible to to a value on them. They’re such a grest thing, thety have such a great story and provenance. They are the rarest of the rare.”
