Juicy Couture was co-founded in 1994 by Gela Nash and Pamela Skaist-Levy as Travis Jeans Inc.

The Juicy Couture brand was originally a fashion brand selling sportswear. In 2002 collections for men and children were added, and in 2004 bathing suits, shoes, handbags, and jewellery for women.

In 2003 Travis Jeans Inc, was purchased by Liz Claiborne Inc. Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor (married bassist John Taylor of Duran Duran) remained co-presidents of the company, and remain the creative minds behind Juicy Couture.
