Marks and Spencer boss Stuart Rose, has been awarded a knighthood in Queen’s New Year Honours list.

Mr Rose has been knighted for his services to the UK retail industry and corporate social responsibility just three years after being head hunted from the Arcadia group to revive the fortunes of M&S.

Other fashion industry gongs have been awarded to Jasper Conran (OBE), Karen Millen (OBE), Richard Bradbury of River Island (CBE) and Maurice Bennett co-founder of Oasis clothing store chain who also receives a CBE.
