New Age Plimsolls
In the past Plimsolls were for those people who did not want to wear trainers but wanted the look, and the comfort.
This decade has been the age of the plimsolls, and it has now become a multi million pound industry. There are plimsolls associated with sport, music, sports and many subcultures:

Leading the way is the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star which is the most successful shoe in history with over 750 million pairs sold worldwide.
Vans Classic Slip On Shoes are highly popular with the rock/punk scenes, and also the new emerging emo scene.
Dekline Shoes and their old skool feel and look has made them very popular in the skate and emo subcultures.
and finally Etnies are hugely popular footwear for skateboarding, snowboarders, BMX and motocross riders.

Have to agree with ‘Sick’, I think traditional plimsolls are where it’s at and the flame converse just look a bit cheap. that said, I don’t think the colour way of those vans will ever die with the skater set.
Amen to the ‘age of the plimsolls’!
great post.
