Timeline:

  • 1950: creation, in Mauléon Soule, in the French Basque Country, of the famous canvas boot with its clipped rubber sole. At this time, Mr. Elissabide melts the rubber on a gas ring to make the soles, hence its name “pâte au gaz” (gas moulded) The adventure begins: the brand rapidly becomes known internationally since it is part of the uniform for scouts, soldiers and young people heading off to summer camps.
  • 1987: following the disappearance of the founding factory, the brand is sold to “Chaussures André”, which has today become “Vivarte”. Still very present in the collective unconscious and synonymous with happy times (leisure, family, childhood, etc.), Pataugas continues to develop.
  • 2001: while maintaining its leisure and natural roots, the product range is renewed to adapt to 21st century lifestyles: Pataugas makes a strong comeback.
  • 2004: opening of the first Paris store in the heart of Saint Germain.
  • 2006: opening of two new stores: Rue St-Honoré in Paris and in Aix-en-Provence.
  • 2008 : opening of a fourth store in Lyon Today, Pataugas is continuing with its adventure thanks to a product that is culturally adapted to the various international markets .
