Paul Frank Clothing – whimsical cult fashion from California

July 4th, 2010

The year was 1995 and Paul Frank Industries (PFI) began in the humble surroundings of a small garage in Huntington Beach. A group of friends busily hand sewed wallets and handbags with scraps of Naugahyde, which is a type of vinyl with its origins in the 1950′s motor trade.

Characters such as the now famous Julius the monkey were created to decorate these accessories, originally these wallets and handbags were made as gifts, however it wasn’t long before they gained the attention of a wider audience.
