Polo Ralph Lauren is the luxury lifestyle company created by American fashion designer Ralph Lauren. The brand encompasses not only top of the range casual and semi-formal wear for men and women but also accessories, fragrance, and housewares.

The launch of Polo Ralph Lauren came about in 1967 when Ralph Lauren, born Ralph Lifschitz the son of Jewish immigrant parents, took out a loan for $50,000. Before founding his own company Lauren worked for Brooks Brothers.

In 1968 Polo Ralph Lauren launched a collection of men’s ties. In 1969 Ralph Lauren had its first boutique store, within the Manhattan department store Bloomingdale’s.

Polo Ralph Lauren launched its first women’s collection in 1971 followed shortly by the opening of their very own store in Beverly Hills, California.

1981 saw the Polo Ralph Lauren label go international with the opening of a store in London’s New Bond Street.

The Polo Sport line was introduced in 1993.

The iconic polo player logo is an integral feature on many of the classic items in the collection.
