Skechers is a shoe company headquartered in California, founded by ex-hairdresser and LA Gear shoe company founder Robert Greenberg.

After being ousted from the LA Gear board, Greenberg started Skechers in 1992 with his son, as a distributor for Doc Marten. They launched their own shoe lines in 1995. It has been promoted by huge artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Ashlee Simspon, among others.

Their most famous products are Doc Marten-style sandals and sports shoes designed for use with skateboards, but the company has since moved into mainstream casual footwear targeting the teenage market.
