Ray Kelvin launched Ted Baker in 1988 but was unable to fund any advertising. To overcome this with every Ted Baker shirt, dry cleaing was offered. Word of mouth soon spread and shops soon opened up in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, and Nottingham.

In 1995 due to the continued success Ted Baker launched a new range, Ted Baker Woman.

Today Ted Baker is a global brand and produces men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, aswell as fragrances, eyeware and accessories. Ben Sherman and Paul Smith and the brands main competitors.
