Tinted Moisturisers for Summer

May 30th, 2012

The sun is out, the heat is rising and it’s time for your legs to come out ladies!!

However if you’re like me and have pasty lily white legs you may be a little reluctant to wear shorts, skirts or dresses.

But fear not! There is an answer and it isn’t a sun bed. The answer is tinted moisturisers.

This fantastic invention not only helps tone* and keep your skin baby soft but they also add a summer glow so you don’t look like you’re a member of the Addams Family. The fabulous thing is that these don’t give you an instant tan, they slowly build up a natural looking tan with every use (I use mine once a day on my legs and once every other day on my face and neck). You won’t look like you’ve rolled in Dorito’s and you won’t look like an Oompah Loompah.

I’ve done a bit of searching; Boots and Superdrug have come to my aid with a fantastic list of tinted moisturisers. If you have a nut allergy PLEASE read the labels as some of them do contain Almond oils… as a quick heads up I’m using Garnier Summer Body for a “light sun kissed look” and it has NO nut oils in it (but does have Apricot extract). I’ve only been using it a short time but I can already see my legs are not pure white any more and my face and neck have a healthy glow. I paid about £3.60 ish for mine I believe and you get 250ML.

OK so onwards; I’ve tried to find the cheaper end of the line – you don’t want to be paying through the nose for something that will work just as well as the cheaper stuff and I have found (through friends and my own use) that the cheaper products tend to work better because you use them more – the more expensive items barely get used because you want to make it last. Little bit of psychology for you there.

From Boots we have the Natural Collection tinted moisturiser priced at a tiny £1.99. this is specifically for your face – this gives you a natural not overly-made up look and there are three different shades – Natural, Beige and Fair.

Over to Superdrug and there is Nivea Visage tinted moisturising crème. It’s on 50ML so not a lot for your £3.65 (though you do save 42p it was £4.07) Nivea say that this moisturiser is for when your skin lacks a fresh and even complexion and helps give a tinted more radiant appearance. This is for all skin types.

Botanics have a GREAT range at Boots and they now include an Instant Glow tinted moisturiser. You get 75ML for your £4.59. this is a lightweight tinted moisturiser complete with light diffusing particles which give your skin an even radiant tone.

Finally I move onto Solait who are always trustworthy and have a fantastic range of light and dark foam, light and dark lotions and a bronzing gel depending on your preference. The foam is £5.99 and the lotion and gel are £6.99. The foam (150ML) has a light formula with means its really easy to apply and dries very quickly. It contains a tint which gradually intensifies over 1-4 hours to give you a natural looking tan. It is full of Aloe Vera, Glycerin and Vitamin E to keep your skin moisturised. The lotions works much in the same way and is easily absorbed into your skin.  Meanwhile the gel has a light formula too to give a fresh feeling on your skin, dries quickly and works in 1-4 hours also.

* just as am FYI, I have talked to so many people about this and it doesn’t matter WHAT lotion you use, ALL will help tone your skin as it is the MASSAGE of actually applying the stuff not what’s in it that works however anything with caffeine in it or Vitamin E will help you along the way.
