Victoria Beckham has recently defended her moody pout and “miserable” persona and insists that she a happy person. She just doesn’t feel the need to “scream and shout” about it.
But… there is a catch. She has done an about turn and now says that the fashion industry is to blame for her lack of smile.
“I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. It stole my smile! I have created this person and I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me. It’s an armour that goes up.”
The comment was, of course, said in jest. Many say, however, that Victoria was practising her moody pout way before the new millennium even back into her Spice Girls days when she sported a leather mini dress and frown with a pointed finger at the camera.
The mum of four (now 38) debuted her ready-to-wear line back in 2008 and has reaped in bith commercial and critical success in a relatively short period. It seems that sacrificing her smile is a small price to pay for her new career. “I do feel like fashion is where I belong” she says and hints at the same time that being on stage with her former pop group is not.
Keep your eyes on the Olympic Closing Ceremony to find out if she drops her famous moody pout for one final zig-a-zig-ah with her old band mates. We can hope, can’t we?
