Hard to believe that the Care Bears have been with us for over 25 years, they still seem as fresh today as they did back then.
The Care Bears were introduced by American Greetings who had massive success with Strawberry Shortcake in 1979, the first appearance by the Care Bears was on a series of greetings cards in 1981 the original illustrator was Elena Kucharik, who created the Care Bears franchise in conjunction with Linda Denham.
In 1982, it was announced that a Care Bears range of toys were being developed by Parker Brothers and Kenner. In early 1983 the character toys were introduced to the buying public, later that year came the first Care Bears television special, “The Land Without Feelings”, ever popular today the Care Bears stage show which started in 2005 is currently still touring in America.
