Young Designers get backing from Topshop

At London Fashion Week in February (10th - 15th), Topshop are to sponsor catwalk shows by eight up and coming young fashion designers.

The eight designers chosen for catwalk sponsorship are Todd Lynn, Christopher Kane, Duro Olowu, Erdem, Louise Goldin, Marios Schwab, MeadhamKirchhoff and Krystof Strozyna.

Krystof Strozyna and MeadhamKirchhoff will be making their catwalk debuts.

The Topshop fashion chain will also sponsor presentations by a further 12 young designers as part of the British Fashion Council (BFC) New Generation campaign.

Hilary Riva, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council (BFC) said:

“This season’s recipients were carefully chosen from a long list of talented designers who applied for this prestigious sponsorship scheme by a panel comprising press, buyers, the British Fashion Council and Topshop,”

The British Fashion Council uses two talent scouts, Sarah Mower, fashion writer American Vogue and Style.com and Andrew Tucker, fashion writer and lecturer.

Since the BFC launched New Generation in 1993, such British luminaries as Alexander Mcqueen, Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald and, more recently, Giles Deacon and Jonathan Saunders have all received valuable support.

This will be the 13th time Topshop has been involved with New Generation, part of the UK’s label long-running strategy of linking up with designers to produce special collections, available during London Fashion Week.
